If you have so far, then you've only got this week to walk at least once to school and you'll have won yourself this badge! You could begin a fantastic collection as there is November's badge coming up next!
Our whole school voted last week to choose the winning banner designs for our weekly awards. The results were announced in assembly and above you can see the winners with their designs and chosen prizes. Pictured below are our worthy runners up. Well done everyone. We now look forward to getting them made into banners by AA flags. When you head into our library from now on you'll see that we've subscribed to the 'Horrible Histories' monthly magazine. It is full of horrible and sometimes horrific facts!! Be warned! Linked with this I am launching a monthly challenge. Questions will be posed and you must find the answers in the magazine. Of course you'll learn some great facts too. The question can be found in the library. If you know the answer, once you've read the magazine, write your name and answer on a piece of paper and post it in our special Horrible History box. Don't put your answer on this blog - everyone will be able to see it ;-) Happy reading and have fun finding out some horrible facts!! The first question is linked with the Tudors. I thought Y3 and Y4 would enjoy that. Here it is:- What did the Tudor people stuff their chickens with to make them look juicy and fat? We have had a first at Tanfield today! Inspired by our 'Walk once a week' campaign three of our staff put on their walking shoes and, after a day at work, walked home. I'm hoping they are home by now as two of them had over 8 miles to go. Well done!! Rumour has it that it may become a regular thing. Would anyone else like to join them? Thank you to everyone who took the time to use their artistic skills in our Banner Competition. At the beginning of the term we decided that our current class trophies were very tired and we needed some new ones. What could be better than replacing them with some original banners. Everyone set to work, lots of creativity was evident and entries were submitted. After much deliberation, a short list has been agreed. The following are for 3 of the 4 categories. One has already been chosen for the 'Best Moving' banner - you'll have to wait and see whose this is!! Please have a look at the different designs and next week in school your teacher will be getting you to vote. Well done to everyone who entered the competition and a really special well done if your design is one that is shown here - yours could be the winning one! Good luck!
